A Tribute from the Heart: Behind the Scenes of The Natural

One of our favorite projects in recent years was creating this special tribute for the 46th Annual Bone Marrow Transplant Reunion with City of Hope. With in-person gatherings still on hold at the time, we wanted to open the virtual event with something memorable — a heartfelt homage to the 1984 film The Natural.

Filmed overnight on a real, working baseball field in Riverside, CA, the project featured Dr. Stephen Forman stepping into the role of Roy Hobbs. Our tiny but mighty crew leaned into the moment — bringing big heart, a touch of movie magic, and even sneaking in a few rounds of catch between takes.

The reunion is always an emotional event, and this year’s tribute was no exception. Blending new footage with archival clips, we aimed to honor the strength and resilience of everyone who’s been part of the BMT journey.

You've probably seen bits and pieces of the finished product, but now we’re excited to share the full version — along with a behind-the-scenes look at how it all came together.
